Tucked against the turquoise waters of Kāneʻohe Bay, Heʻeia State Park feels like a hidden slice of paradise made for saying “I do" to your best friend.
Joe + Janelle’s Wedding at Heʻeia State Park (ʻUlumau Village), Kaneohe
Joe and Janelle’s wedding day was nothing short of magical, set against the stunning backdrop of Heʻeia State Park (ʻUlumau Village) in Kaneohe, Oʻahu. This venue is one of my personal favorites because of its sweeping views of Kaneohe Bay and its variety of beautiful spaces. From the bridal suite tucked into a charming garden cottage to the palm tree–lined ceremony site overlooking the water, every corner of this venue offers something unique. Plus, the spacious reception hall on the upper level makes it a perfect Oʻahu wedding venue for couples who want to celebrate with a larger guest count while still having those breathtaking Hawaiian views.
The Ceremony
Janelle shared one of the sweetest first looks with her grandpa before the ceremony, it was such a tender way to honor family on such an important day. And instead of doing a private first look with Joe, she chose to see him for the very first time walking down the aisle. Honestly, I love when couples take this route. The anticipation builds, and when you finally lock eyes with your person in that moment, it feels like the world stands still. For Janelle and Joe, the emotion was palpable, and it set the tone for the rest of the day.
High School Musical Vibes
After the ceremony, we snuck in some quick portraits before a light rain rolled through (Hawaiʻi weather keeping us on our toes, as always!). The couple made their way back in time for their grand entrance, where the real celebration began. Their first dance? To “Can I Have This Dance” from High School Musical 3, and YES, I cried like a baby because this was peak childhood nostalgia. 🥹 The reception also featured a money dance, plus a special couples dance honoring married guests. Joe’s grandparents, who have been together for over 50 years, made it to the final round—a moment that beautifully highlighted the legacy of love surrounding these two.
Why Heʻeia State Park is a Dream Oʻahu Wedding Venue!
This wedding was a perfect reminder of why I love Heʻeia State Park weddings. The combination of mountain and bay views, versatile event spaces, and room for family traditions makes it such a gem for couples looking to tie the knot on Oʻahu. If you’re dreaming of a wedding that blends natural beauty with heartfelt celebration, this Kaneohe wedding venue might just be your spot.
